Chief Matt Everhart is an eight year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as both enlisted and as a commissioned officer. In both capacities, Matt was a military certified fitness trainer and regularly scored in the upper 90 percentile on his physical fitness tests.

Matt served in California, Texas, Kansas, Germany, Italy, and Hungary. He also participated in military actions in the U.S. campaign to liberate Kosovo in 1999.

Chief Everhart started Blackhawk Unlimited and Blackhawk Bootcamp Fitness as a way to help educate people on the importance of physical fitness and wellness. His personal goal is to play a significant role in the fight against obesity and over-eating in the United States, one step at a time. Chief Everhart is a Certified Sports Nutritionist and provides diet recommendations and other health information in many capacities.

Currently, Blackhawk Fitness is the outlet for that goal and he sincerely hopes he and his trainers can help improve fitness and health awareness in the Wichita area.

(LPN)

A Non-Commissioned officer with over four years active military service as a combat medic and LPN. He has trained and served in Texas, Washington, and South Korea. He has received commendations for excellence in physical fitness and leadership.

He remains dedicated to excellence in physical fitness and the adaptation of the Warrior Ethos into fitness training. Real results take real work, and real work requires a team effort. 

Jared joined Blackhawk Bootcamp Fitness at day one and targets weight loss and self-improvement as his goal for each and every one of our clients.


 Instructor Shawn Strickland - Prior Service Marine Corps
(CPT)

Originally from Winfield, Ks Shawn currently works at the North Branch YMCA as a personal trainer and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship at Wichita State University.  

Shawn spent four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps where he obtained the rank of Sergeant.  Stationed in Okinawa Japan for two years, Shawn has been to more than 7 countries including Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Fitness Background:

  • American Council on Exercise(ACE) Certified Personal Trainer
  • YMCA Certified Personal Trainer
  • Threw javelin for two years at the collegiate level
  • CPR/First Aid/ AED certified

SSG HACKWORTH  - U.S. ARMY CALVARY SCOUT (ACTIVE)

       Staff Sergeant (SSG) Hackworth joined the Army in August of 2001, currently bringing him to 6 years on Active Duty service. Hackworth's first duty station was Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 82nd Airborne Division, 3 of the 325th Infantry. He was there for three years which includes a one year combat deployment.

       SSG Hackworth then moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and on to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) with the 1st of the 33rd Calvary Regiment, which also included a one year combat tour. SSG Hackworth has trained over 30 lower enlisted soldiers and more than 10 non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in both the physical and mental aspects and requirements of Army life.

 SSG Hackworh is the proud recepient of three (3) Army Commendation Medals, three (3) Army Acheivement Medals, and a Bronze Star (w/ Valor). He is very proud of what he does and who he has become in the military.

SGT DUSTIN VANCUREN - U.S. ARMY RESERVES MILITARY POLICE
(CPT) 

SGT Dustin VanCuren joined the Army January 2002 as a Military Police officer. SGT VanCuren later went active duty in June of 2004 as a Maintenance Supervisor, deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was later deployed to Panama in a humanitarian mission for Operation New Horizons. SGT VanCuren is Currently attached to the 387th Hr Co. as a Maintenance Supervisor, Safety Officer, Unit Drug and Alcohol Prevention leader and Unit fitness trainer. VanCuren believe a good life is being Drug free and addicted to health and fitness.

Notable Schools Include: Military Police Academy, Wheel Mechanic Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Army Substance Abuse Course, 120 Hour Hazmat Course, Army Safety Course, Combat Life Saver Course.

Notable Awards Include: 4 Army Certificate of achievements, Army Service Ribbon, National Defence Service Ribbon W/ Bronze star, Mechanics Badge, Humanitarin Service Medal, Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal W/M device, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal. 

 SGT Vancuren is our newest certified instructor at Blackhawk Bootcamp Fitness and he is DEDICATED to helping out clients meet their goals!


  Instructor Shane Davis
(CPT)

Shane is a native of Wichita, KS and is currently a Captain at McConnell Fire Department of which my current duties are to supervise, motivate, and mentor military and civilian firefighters. 

 Shane spent 4 ½ Years in the Air Force Fire Protection Career Field where he held the rank of Staff Sergeant. In that capacity, he has deployed to forward locations in the Middle East to support Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom with Canadian, British, Emirate, and Australian Forces.
 
SSG Davis obtained his Bachelors Degree in Security Management and Business Quality Management, and received my Masters of Science in Leadership.
 
Fitness Background:
  • 5 Years of Experience within the realm of physical fitness
  • Attended The Air Force Physical Trainers Course
  • Lead Fitness Monitor for McConnell Fire Department providing a comprehensive workout plan that caters to the needs to perform firefighting activities
  • Certified EMT-Basic & AED
  • CPR Certified

Shane has been with Blackhawk Fitness Bootcamp for almost six months and is our resident nutrition guru!
